Three days weren’t enough to explore the entire Exhibit Room—it was huge! That said, they certainly knew how to organize it to avoid overcrowding. Everything was divided into sections: collaboration, audio, digital signage, e-sports, and video. In conclusion, InfoComm is an unmissable event for staying in touch with manufacturers, getting first-hand updates, seeing live demos, and most importantly, connecting with other AV community leaders. According to Tomás Leiton, compared to last year’s InfoComm, he was impressed by the increased Latin American presence this year (even many booth staff were amazed), showing how all markets are seeking to adopt new technologies in the hybrid reality. Another thing that caught my attention was the inclusion of device management platforms by manufacturers. That is, they’re not only offering the hardware but also software for remote management and, more importantly, for obtaining performance metrics. There are even companies (like Utelogy) dedicated solely to this—merging various devices into a single user interface (to understand how equipment is used, ensure it's updated, generate reports, alerts, and more—all of which have become key components in the corporate world). Trends are leaning toward technologies and design that enhance immersive experiences and allow for metric tracking. I also noticed an increase in booths focused on acoustics, from measurement devices (sound level meters, omnidirectional sources, noise detectors) to acoustic treatment materials (various types of mineral wool with specific properties). Manufacturers like Neat even integrated acoustic treatment into one of their mobile video conferencing solutions. Acoustic treatment has become a key factor when designing meeting rooms and collaboration spaces—something previously overlooked. This year, the #NewtechTeam participated in the largest audiovisual event in the Americas, InfoComm, where professionals and brands from across the industry gather to explore the latest tech trends, visit exhibitions, attend talks and sessions, and learn more about the sector's challenges and promising innovations.
We spoke with Rodolfo Castro, Sr. UC Engineer Latam & Tomás Leiton, Pre-Sales at Newtech, to share the highlights of their experience:
InfoComm 23! “For those who don’t know, this was my first time attending such a major event, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Obviously, I wasn’t disappointed at all—I was thrilled and can’t wait to attend again.” —Rodolfo Castro
In terms of collaboration, the trend is shifting away from the traditional displays we're used to. Manufacturers like i3technologies, LG, and Jupiter showcased 21:9 screens. For example, Jupiter aims to present more content in a layout that allows the eye to move more comfortably. The human eye naturally scans more easily horizontally, so these displays help deliver better meeting room experiences and quality.
Another standout was the development of AI-enabled cameras that can communicate with each other and automatically send the best angle of the user to the call. For instance, you could have one camera at the front of the room and another in the middle of the table—the AI will determine which one best captures your presence and automatically send that video feed. Soon we might have multiple cameras per room to enhance the experience and collaboration.
“This year I also noticed that the busiest booths were those related to corporate environments, while those for broadcast or live sound seemed less crowded (compared to last year). This was especially relevant in booths demonstrating video conferencing equipment, where image and audio quality were combined with acoustic design to enhance meeting performance.” —Tomás Leiton
How would you describe your experience attending this event with Newtech Group?
“I’m thankful for the opportunity Newtech gave me to attend for the second year in a row. During this convention, I was able to learn and familiarize myself with the latest market trends to apply them with our clients. It was extremely valuable to speak with partners like Fibex, Neat, Jupiter, and Aurora and learn about the infrastructure they’re deploying in Latam.” —Tomás Leiton
