How to effectively clean and disinfect your Poly collaboration hardware in high-use areas such as conference rooms and contact centers?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that frequently used devices and surfaces be cleaned and disinfected with a solution that contains 70% alcohol and 30% water. Poly's recommendations for the water and alcohol solution vary by Poly product, as it depends on the materials that make up the product.
Before cleaning and disinfecting Poly collaboration products, it is a good idea to read the following tips.
- Always turn off and unplug the cables from a product before cleaning it.
- Always clean products in a well-ventilated area and wear disposable latex or nitrile gloves.
- Do not use harsh chemicals —eg. g., bleach, peroxides, ethanol, acetone, ethylacetic acid, chloromethane, ammonia, or all-purpose cleaners—for cleaning screens, plastic, metal, or rubber surfaces.
- When using isopropyl alcohol, make sure it's medical grade. Industrial grade isopropyl alcohol can corrode some surfaces.
- Always use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to clean products.
- Always spray cleaning solutions on the cloth before cleaning the product, but be careful not to oversaturate the cloth.
- Never apply or spray the solution directly on the product because the liquid could stain or seep inside and damage the hardware.
- Always allow the device to air dry completely before reconnecting any cables.
- If you have an ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) device that emits ultraviolet C radiation, unplug the product and place it in the UVGI device for 1-2 minutes.
- When finished cleaning products, wash your hands following WHO guidelines
- Keep a log of cleaning frequency and keep it near all frequently used devices, such as a conference phone, and update it after each cleaning.
