By Camila Chavarri, Head of Marketing At Newtech Group, we not only have solutions that address all these questions, but we also experience them firsthand. In fact, I joined Newtech Group as a Marketing Analyst at the height of the pandemic in April 2021. I started with a fully remote model. Once the storm had passed and we were able to meet again, we adopted a hybrid model to reconnect physically, see each other’s faces—something we had missed so much during lockdown. Later, as years passed, we decided to implement multiple work models within the organization that adapt to the different needs of each department. We understand that some positions don’t require physical presence, while others do. Additionally, with our expansion across LATAM, many of our meetings inevitably need to be hybrid. From my perspective, there are both benefits and challenges to the hybrid model. I particularly reflect on this as a mother, which coincided with the moment we adapted to the “new normal.” One of the biggest pros was being present for my baby’s first year of growth—it was incredibly valuable to me to accompany him through all his stages, day by day. At the same time, the hybrid model allowed me to gradually reintegrate into the team and take on new challenges in my department. However, in-person work fosters a different dynamic. Being face-to-face not only strengthens collaboration within your team but also allows for spontaneous interactions with other colleagues, making problem-solving more efficient and immediate. Additionally, those lunch breaks or coffee breaks where you exchange personal stories help build stronger, more grounded connections. And from the perspective of motherhood, as children grow more mobile and require more attention, working from home can become increasingly challenging. Their schedules are unpredictable, and unexpected events can disrupt our work agenda. That’s why having the option to work in the office becomes an important factor—it provides a space to concentrate and be more productive. To conclude, the model we are currently following—by choice of the team—is a flexible hybrid presence, a “3x2 model.” This means three days in the office and two days remote. Those in-office days are maximized for cross-departmental meetings, brainstorming sessions, collaborative projects, and, of course, sharing some good coffee or mate while exchanging stories. Will We Stay in a Hybrid Model? Or Will We Shift to 100% Remote Work?
