Tecpetrol wanted to migrate to Teams Telephony by integrating its unified communications and collaboration platform for communications and meetings, but it was important for them to have a smooth transition process for their users. With AudioCodes technology and our experts' experience, we were able to achieve this migration quickly and satisfactorily.

Tecpetrol had been using Cisco's CallManager solution and Skype for Business for their enterprise communications, but they began searching for a solution that would allow them to unify their communications infrastructure into a single platform. Their desire to integrate arose from wanting to minimize communication complexity and reduce operational costs. Tecpetrol sought a comprehensive solution that could offer them unified communications (UC) and collaboration.

Objectives

Tecpetrol wanted to use Microsoft Teams as their unified communications and collaboration platform for communications and meetings, but it was important for them to have a smooth transition process for their users.

This change began with the implementation of an independent video conferencing system that significantly improved their employees' experience, collaboration, communication, and teamwork. With this new video conferencing platform, Tecpetrol was able to organize live Microsoft Teams events. This helped to strengthen Teams adoption throughout the organization, and it quickly became their preferred platform for unified communications and collaboration.

However, Tecpetrol still relied on Cisco's infrastructure to communicate between their headquarters and other offices across Latin America. They also needed the ability to communicate with clients who used Skype for Business as their enterprise voice and video communication platform.

Tecpetrol's strategy was to analyze different transition scenarios to minimize potential impacts and reduce the risks associated with the migration. They wanted to unify their offices and PBXs locally using various SBCs on their premises and a centralized SBC that would be integrated throughout the operation. Ultimately, their goal was to achieve a rapid and successful adoption of Microsoft Teams by their users.

Solutions: Transition to Teams Telephony

Thanks to the work done by Newtech and the AudioCodes services team, Tecpetrol was able to create a final plan for their Microsoft Teams implementation. Tecpetrol chose AudioCodes Direct Routing SBC over other providers because AudioCodes solutions not only met Tecpetrol's requirements but also drove a smooth transition from their traditional telephony systems to Teams Telephony. These requirements included:

SBC for Teams Direct Routing certified by Microsoft for PSTN and SIP trunk connectivity to Microsoft Teams.
Cisco CallManager, dialing plan policies, route management, call classification, and policy integration and configuration.
Call queues and auto-attendant configurations.

Implementation Process
