The pandemic was the catalyst that forced people to try new ways of working, but the availability of robust networks, cloud computing, and unified communications made many surprised by the productivity they could achieve outside the traditional office. Inevitably, there were challenges to overcome, but in most situations, communication happened, and work continued. When the network is too congested by video or other distractions at home, such as children, pets, and other family members working, voice has proven to remain the default communication method. However, traditional telephony became a greater challenge as workers moved away from the office desk phone and calls were diverted to mobile phones or softphones on their PCs. These tools facilitated locating and contacting colleagues, but audio quality suffered when workers had to raise their voices into built-in computer microphones and strained to listen through tiny built-in speakers. Similarly, this almost random approach was a short-term solution rather than a cure. What is needed now is a professionalized company-wide approach to equip workers. "At Poly, we have had an agile work policy for over a decade, and that has allowed us to lead the market, developing beautifully designed products, but COVID-19 is an unprecedented change," says Judith Hogan, Director of Sales Acceleration at Poly. "Hybrid work is here to stay and has been stress-tested globally," she adds. Hogan explains that poor audio means workers not only miss key information but also suffer from audio fatigue as they strain to listen and participate in calls. "High-quality headsets mean you don't need to move locations to find that quiet spot and close a significant million-dollar deal." Poly expects workers to return to offices as the pandemic subsides, but few will return full-time, opting for remote work at least for a period. The analyst firm Gartner predicts that by 2024, in-person meetings will represent only 25% of business meetings, a 60% drop. This will bring different work approaches and has driven Poly's strategy to launch new products specifically to address the needs of home workers for better audio both while working from home and when returning to offices. The Poly Sync family, a new line of intelligent USB and Bluetooth speakerphones, offers flexibility, while its smart microphones can easily detect voices throughout the room. The family includes three new speakers in three different sizes, for the home office, small meeting spaces, and larger meeting rooms, that easily connect to your voice assistant Siri or Google, and with their smart microphones that track the speaker, not the noise, provide clear audio quality for both work and entertainment. Alongside the popular Voyager Bluetooth series and the BlackWire USB headsets, all with ANC capability, the Savi 7300 Office series is the latest addition to the Savi family, featuring Poly's Acoustic Fence microphone technology to ensure workers are always heard.Poly Sync and Hybrid Work
